McEUEN: Keep it for the kids
I'm sure sorry for the McEeun outcome. Coming from a true North Idaho boy, I see nothing wrong with the field. It would have made more sense to spend that money on our kids' education. Instead of want to bring more people to Idaho. I say take care of our people and kids.
EMBEZZLE: Audit upgrades needed
This is reported to have gone back more than 10 years? As usual, trusted, elected officials in service to protect our funds, continues to be a question in all levels of government, from Washington, D.C., to small town U.S.A. We need a new audit system - maybe a private company - that could keep track of our dollars.
BORDERS: Protecting them a top priority
Protecting our nation's borders and thus its sovereignty is the main responsibility of the federal government. The federal government has not considered this a priority for the last 25 years. Illegal Mexican nationals are destroying our border states.
FEDS: A bunch of dim bulbs
Since President Obama came into office the government has gotten bigger and bigger. Now the government is coming into our homes and telling us what kind of light bulbs to use! Is the next step our underwear drawers telling us boxers or briefs, bloomers or bikinis?
ABORTION: A mortal sin
Regarding article Abortion and Real Life by Arnie Anton:
NONINI: Apology called for, Senator
I am shocked and disappointed after reading “Nonini Response Shocks Veterans” in the Coeur d’Alene Press. What happened during this past primary election has NOTHING to do with supporting our veterans. I feel Senator Nonini owes an apology to Len Crosby and our local veterans!
THANKS: For your protection
A heartfelt THANK YOU to the outside police forces that came to watch over our city while our police force could be at the service of their fallen brother, Sgt. Greg Moore. You don’t even know us, but gave your time for them. God Bless you good!
ANTHEM: And all for one
Why do people differ over standing for the National Anthem? If you’re an American, stand to show respect for our flag and our country and the thousands of people that have given their lives to protect us. Wake up people — this is America, stand and show your respect. God Bless America!
SFM: Ministry leaves Candlelight
Salvation For Muslims is growing and expanding according to God’s blessings and leading. Michael Paul and Salvation For Muslims are no longer affiliated with Candlelight Christian Fellowship. We are an independent nonprofit organization. We will continue to maintain our ministry headquarters in Hayden, and we appreciate the prayers and support of all our friends and followers.
TRAPPING: Rights go both ways
In response to a letter by Linda Sorensen, I would like to say this: We are in a free nation. We can hunt, trap, fish, etc., for our well-being. So people, keep your dogs on leashes, children on trails, and be aware. Also, fellow hunters and trappers, be responsible and we won’t see our RIGHTS taken away.
PUTIN: Hold the anchovies
In regard to Russia or Putin hacking into our election process and whatever else, we have thousands of military spy satellites in orbit, watching over our friends and adversaries. We can read a newspaper on the ground from space and even know when Putin orders a pizza.
GUGGEMOS: Name Sherman Square after him
Chris Guggemos was a great asset to our community, bringing thousands of people together to enjoy the music of local bands and the beauty of our city parks, year after year.
COUNTY: Preserve voters’ rights
What is the real reason two Kootenai County commissioners (both men) want to take away our constitutional rights to vote for the sheriff?
FILLIOS: Support commissioner
It is with pleasure that I endorse Chris Fillios for re-election as our county commissioner.
MIRROR: Suggestion for column writer
Here is the first line of Brent Regan’s column last Friday. “It seems like our governments are populated with sociopaths that would rather blow up our institutions and economy than give power back to the people.”
Big business behind meltdown of America
We the People? For the last 30 years in America it would be more accurate to say, "We the businesses of the United States of America." During this time big business has been more important in America than the people. Big business, combining with our million dollar legislators, has produced the controlling aspect that now exist in America. This 1 percent, as we will call them, is responsible for the present conditions in America.

How the Trojan boys do it in hoops
Over the past seven seasons, only one other 5A team can match the success at state of the Post Falls High boys basketball team.
Editor's Notebook: How we're connecting during a time of isolation
Growing up in Idaho, there have been so many crises around the country and the world that I’ve heard about but been sheltered from. Tornadoes, tsunamis, viral outbreaks. Even with massive forest fires in neighboring areas, the only impact I felt was the smoke in the air and restrictions to campsites.
