CONSERVATION SUCCESS STORIES: Peregrine Falcon
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it Superman? Well, this time it actually is a bird, the peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus) to be precise. Though it looks like its close cousins, hawks and eagles, this raptor, or bird of prey, is a great deal smaller than the average hawk or eagle, measuring three and a half feet from one wingtip to the other and weighing up to three pounds.

Live life!
I love the snow. I love to get my exercise outdoors snowshoeing with my dogs as often as possible. However, we have had a rather mild winter this year. Flowers are beginning to peek out to show early signs of spring! Sunshine and warmer weather always seem to spark some energy to get outside and do something!
POWER: In wrong places
Lived here most of my life raising two daughters. Tuesday I was swimming with my 6-year-old granddaughter on Sanders Beach where we have been going for 40 years. Down the ramp come two homeless guys, packs and two loose pit bulls which charge us. I called the cops. (Thanks for quick response.) Cops came down, visited with them and reported back “they have service dog papers. They leashed them.” Oh, not full breed pits so they qualify as service animals.
