The Sting SC 11 Girls Academy team competed this last weekend in the PacNW Winter Classic in Tukwila, Wash., finishing in second place in the G2011 Premier 1 bracket. The Sting started off with a victory Friday night, defeating Kitsap Alliance G11 Blue 2-0. Kylie Lorona scored on an assist from Lucy Doyle and Hailey Hayes scored on a breakaway. The Sting next faced WPFC G11 White C on Saturday morning, winning 3-0. Riley Greene scored the first goal for Sting on an assist from Presley Moreau. Presley followed this goal with one of her own on a free kick just outside the box. Brightyn Gatten finished up the game with a single goal in the second half. Saturday evening's game resulted in a third win for the Sting SC 11G Academy team, beating PacNQ G11 Maroon A 2-0. Hailey Hayes scored in the first half with Kylie Lorona following this up on an assist from Brightyn Gatten. This win advanced the girls to the semifinals on Sunday morning.  Sting SC defeated Sparta Tacoma G11 Red 2-1. The Sting's goals came from Harper Overland and Hailey Hayes scoring her third goal of the weekend off an assist from Lucy Doyle. The Sting SC 11G academy next faced WPFC G2012 ECNL in the championship game on Sunday afternoon, losing 2-0. The Sting will have a few weeks off to prepare for the start of the DPL spring season, starting with a home game against WE Surf SC Columbia Basin the weekend of Jan. 25.
