Members of the Woodland Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team recently collected items to send to the airmen stationed overseas in Jordan.

In total, team members packed 7 boxes filled with various items, ranging from sanitary products to jerky and oatmeal.
"It was wonderful to see the creative ideas the kids came up with," Woodland coach Casey Irgens said. "They also wrote individual thank-you notes, and I still have a few blank ones available if people would like to send one."

Additionally, the players completed a "homework packet" that provided the history of the 332nd Air Wing, which is a descendant of the Tuskegee Airmen, also known as the "Red Tails."

"I am extremely proud of the kids," Irgens said.
