In recent years, law enforcement agencies throughout North Idaho have seized large amounts of "Mexi Blue" fentanyl pills, like those pictured here, from suspected drug traffickers. A new law would create mandatory minimum sentences in Idaho for trafficking fentanyl. These pills were among an estimated 400 seized during an August 2023 police raid in Pinehurst.

A bill that would impose mandatory minimum sentences for people convicted of trafficking fentanyl is heading to the floor of the Idaho House of Representatives for a vote, where it already has the support to pass.
