Within a week after Robin Bates arrived home from Mexico, he was dropped on the floor by staff at a rehabilitiation facility. In mid June he was transferred to Kootenai Health, pictured. He also caught COVID-19 and food poisoning and spent months in the hospital.

Bates was accepted to undergo chemotherapy and stem cell treatment in Mexico. His return home has been a struggle toward healing.
