Significant donations to buy Thanksgiving turkeys were given recently by BNSF ($2,500) and the Coeur d'Alene Eagles ($1,500). Founder Evalyn Adams said it is necessary to start early to raise enough money in order to meet an anticipated budget expenditure of more than $60,000. Turkeys have to be ordered in the summer to be available in November. The goal of this nonprofit organization is to purchase 2,000 turkeys to provide Thanksgiving meals to about 10,000 vulnerable family members. The slogan of Turkeys & More is to Fight Hunger and Feed Hope as the donated meals not only provide good nutrition, it helps people feel they live in a caring community. When families are stressed about the high cost of providing for their families, they are thankful to be able to enjoy this special holiday meal in their homes. Adams emphasized the volunteer committee appreciates donations of any size in order to continue this wonderful tradition. If you want to help, please mail a check to Turkeys & More, P.O. Box 267, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83816. If you have questions or want to serve on the committee. please call Adams at 208-765-5535.
