North Idaho College wrestlers, who helped with the turkey distribution, were invited to a recent meeting to be thanked for their super assistance last November. They helped pass out turkeys and grocery gift cards to about 600 vulnerable families. The Coeur Group assisted delivering the rest of the 1,800 birds to 20 food banks or social service agencies throughout Kootenai County. Founder Evalyn Adams said the Turkey Committee has been meeting since January to make sure plans are made to continue this worthwhile project. Because of a higher percentage of food insecure families this year, the nonprofit will try to purchase 2,000 turkeys for November. Turkey prices are extremely high due to bird flu, so it will be necessary to raise more than $60,000. People who want to help Fight Hunger and Feed Hope are encouraged to mail a check to Turkeys & More, P.O. Box 267, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83816. Anyone wanting to help is welcome to contact Adams at 208 765-5535 or evalynera@hotmail.com. From left in back two rows are: John Jacobs, web specialist; Bill Griffiths, treasure; NIC wrestlers: Bradley Whitright, Ethan Miller, Kobi Johnson, Travis Walker, Kana'ipano Tapia, Ledger Petracer, Brant Porter, and Cooper Thomas, assistant coach; Mayte Eriksson, secretary and Nancy Nelson, president. In front with the sign are Trish Dutoit, board member and Evalyn Adams, founder and vice president.
