Courtesy photo Alannah Winland, 13, of Spirit Lake won the musical weapons and creative weapons divisions, and placed second in sparring and traditional weapons at the NASKA Compete in Ontario, Calif., one of the top internationally rated karate tournaments in the country. Winland, who attends Timberlake Middle School, competed against karate students from all over the United States and multiple other countries. She was the only junior competitor from Idaho.
