Daughters of the American Revolution member Susie Snedaker carried this medal with her Friday morning as she and other DAR members honored Lakes teacher Tanya Lilley as the chapter's Outstanding History Teacher of 2023. This nearly 160-year-old Battle of Shiloh survivor's medal was awarded to Snedaker's great-grandfather, D.J. Pattee, who fought for the Union in the Civil War.

Lakes' Tanya Lilley is DAR History Teacher of the Year

A Lakes Middle School history teacher is making some history of her own. Tanya Lilley has been honored by the Lt. George Farragut Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as the recipient of the 2023 Outstanding History Teacher award.
