Members of Unity Center of Spiritual Growth gave Turkeys & More a big boost by donating a total of $5,625 to help buy Thanksgiving turkeys. Reverend Dennis Ashley, who is holding the sign, challenged the congregation to be a $5,000 diamond sponsor and they ended up being a Diamond Plus donor. Coordinator Evalyn Adams, who is also holding the sign, thanked the church for helping to provide turkeys for 1,800 vulnerable families this year. She estimated 7,000 people will enjoy a meal in their homes for this holiday. Adams said they feel blessed to have had so many wonderful donations from community members. The budget this year is $60,000 and contributors have helped to raise about $43,000 towards that goal. People can still send a check made out to Turkeys & More to P.O. Box 267, CDA, ID 82816. Super 1 stores in Kootenai County will also be collecting donations soon to help provide gift cards which will enable people to buy the "trimmings" to go with their turkeys. Turkeys will be distributed on Nov. 18, at Unity Church in Coeur d'Alene. If people have questions or would like to help they are encouraged to email Adams at evalynera@hotmail.com or call 208-765-5535, or call Turkeys & More President Bill Griffith at 208-446-4017.
