Volunteers (from left) Marcie Galloway and Rochelle Nilles wrap gifts children bought for their families during the Holidays and Heroes event on Dec. 4 in the Greyhound Park and Event Center. While they wrap, children can pull candy canes from Christmas trees and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate wrapped in new blankets and toys before they deliver their presents to their families.

Holidays and Heroes celebration pairs kids with cops for countless gifts

For 130 kids through Spokane and Kootenai counties, Holidays and Heroes on Dec. 4 was a day just for them. They were taken shopping for Christmas presents for their families by sheriff’s deputies, police, firemen, detectives and more, followed by gifts galore at the Greyhound Park and Event Center.
