The North Idaho Association of Health Underwriters (NIAHU) collected close to $5,000 to buy gifts and supplies for the Youth Acute Psychiatric and Pediatric units at Kootenai Health. Each teen was surprised with a garbage bag sized sack full of items on their wish list, which included socks, personal hygiene supplies, shoes, art supplies, books, blankets, stuffed animals and clothing. The pediatric patients received Lego sets to help keep them entertained during their stay. This year, the behavioral unit was short on DVD players for all the patients that were in quarantine, so we were able to fulfill those as well. Over the past 12 years, NIAHU has donated close to $45,000 worth of toys, board games, clothes and have fulfilled the Christmas gift lists of teens and younger patients at Kootenai Health.
