This sacred Bodhi Tree (sacred fig) in Bodh Gaya in eastern India is possibly a descendant of the original tree — long gone — where Buddha sat and meditated for 49 days in the 6th century B.C., and then began his lifelong travels preaching his new philosophy/religion.
