North Idaho turkey populations are so good, a lot of the birds move into farmyards where they aren’t exposed to hunters. With the general season opening April 15, asking permission to hunt on private land is essential. The best turkey hunting units in the Panhandle are 1 through 5, according to Idaho Fish and Game, although units 7 and 9 opened this year to turkey hunters.
