The following is from a press release submitted by the team:
“The CHS Viking Girls soccer team began their 2019 season with a retreat at Camp Lutherhaven. They spent time together on long, uphill trail runs, competing in paddle board races, and working together in the treetop challenge course. They built skills, confidence and camaraderie and set themselves up to navigate a season of ups and downs with grace and tenacity. Throughout the season they held strong to their mantra: Bleed Blue, which represents their team values- Team above self; Attitude reflects leadership; Celebrate successes; Embrace the challenge; and Be positive! When it came to districts and the state tournament, the bench never once sat down. They stayed on their feet cheering and encouraging teammates through hard losses and sweet sweet wins. Ending the season with the 5A Sportsmanship Award, the title of Consolation Champions and #4 in the state, while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.9, the CHS Viking Girls soccer team represented their school, our community and North Idaho well. Congrats, Viks!”
Said senior captain, Lily Foster: “This season was different. Our focus was on team unity and working together. We had team goals and put them ahead of personal goals and we played for each other.”
Said captain Julieanna Stith, “no matter where we were at in the game, winning or losing, we never gave up, until the last whistle blew.”
