Aspen Sound from Coeur d’Alene won the KGSA Varsity Division (14U) tournament championship game May 20 at Finucane Park in Hayden. 
Aspen Sound won all three pool play games. Aspen beat Bashaw Electric 9-8, as Matea Dorame and Sadie Zimmerman both hit RBI doubles. Aspen beat NNAC 9-1. Matea Dorame hit her first home run of the season, Alex Torres hit an inside-the-park HR, and Kristine Schmidt and Sadie Zimmerman both hit doubles. Dorame also struck out seven in three innings. Aspen beat Maximum Exposure 5-1, led by Grace Ritchart who hit a two-run triple.
In bracket play on Sunday, Aspen beat Maximum Exposure 9-3. Matea Dorame gave up 1 hit in the first 3 innings; Kristine Schmidt finished the game in the last inning. Grace Ritchart and Abbi Howe both hit RBI doubles.
In the championship game, Aspen Sound beat NNAC 10-2 in five innings. Kristine Schmidt pitched the first 4 innings with no hits and 10 strikeouts. Abbi Howe and Kristine Schmidt both hit two-run doubles and Abbi Moerhing hit a two-run triple.
