The Cristeros, made up of players from local high schools, beat two-time defending champion Eagle/Rocky Mountain 4-3 in overtime Sunday to state high school hockey tournament at Frontier Ice Arena in Coeur d’Alene. It is the first state high school championship in Cristeros history. Cristeros trailed 3-1 after two period, tied the game at 3 with 2 minutes left, and won in OT on a breakaway by Bear Hughes. 
The Cristeros opened the tournament by beating Skyline 7-0 on Friday morning and the Boise Knights 9-1 on Friday night. On Saturday, the Cristeros beat Lewiston 9-0. Sunday morning, the Cristeros beat Sun Valley 4-1 in the semifinals. In the other semi, Eagle/Rocky Mountain beat pre-tourney favorite Boise/Timberline 7-4.
