The Coeur d’Alene Crush ’04 girls fastpitch softball team won the 12-and-under championship game at the USA Explosion tournament in Coeur d’Alene on June 23-25. The Crush won all three pool play games. First was an 8-0 win over the Spokane Valley Bandits in five innings. Madi Cleave pitched a no-hitter. The Crush beat the Ronan Mighty Raiders 19-1 in four innings. Alexis Blankenship hit a grand slam and Catherine Bakken went 3 for 3 in the win. The Crush beat the Columbia Basin Extreme 9-2. In pool play, Alexis Blankenship hit two home runs, Alyssa Krause, Catherine Bakken, and Brin Tolzmann all had triples, and Kara Lallatin went 8 for 12. Sunday in bracket play, the Crush beat the Columbia Basin Extreme 13-0 in four innings. Kristine Schmidt hit a home run in the win. In the championship game, the Crush beat the Walla Walla Sting 14-2 in four innings. Matea Dorame earned the win in the circle and also hit a ground rule double.
