A vehicle drives over an uneven manhole on Fourth Street in downtown Coeur d'Alene on Monday. Square-cut manhole cover repairs — called diamond cuts — have a tendency to sink or expand, causing bumps in city streets. The city plans a pilot project this summer to use round cuts, which will be level with the street and should eliminate the bumps of driving over sewer manholes.
