<p>Algae gathers on the surface of Fernan Lake on Tuesday. The Panhandle Health District and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality are cautioning people swimming in and eating fish from the east side of Fernan Lake and the northern arm of Hayden Lake to stay away from areas where the algae is present.</p>

Algae warning for Fernan Lake
Panhandle Health District and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality have issued health advisories for the east side of Fernan Lake and the northern arm of Hayden Lake, near the Sportsman Access. PHD is urging the public to use caution when recreating in or near the water.
