<p>University of Wyoming geology and geophysics professor Ken Sims drops a small tube into a geologic formation while collecting water samples for his research near Mammoth Hot Springs last November. Sims and a small team spent time in the park looking to collect radium samples and test PH levels, among other things. Sims, who has been featured in National Geographic Magazine, is one of the world's leading volcano researchers. He took his position at UW in part to be able to research Yellowstone.</p>
