OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
AMADOR: Bright star shining
Everywhere I go in town I hear variations of the same theme: “This has got to be the zaniest election our country has experienced in my lifetime.”
COUNTY: Beware slippery slope
I have heard this story before. In California to be exact. The problem is as experience has taught me once you open the dam, it is impossible to close it. Californians were told the same thing about all public empl…
FAIR: Well done, folks
It has probably been two or three years ago since I attended the North Idaho State Fair and I was very impressed with all the changes and improvements that have been made throughout the fairgrounds complex. I took …
PILES: Eyesores, begone!
When are all those piles of trees going to be removed? These are the ones we see everyday on Government Way next to the cemetery.
KOHLES: The smart choice
I have always known I have a smart grandson, but recently I learned he is wise beyond his years. His statement, “Everyone just needs to lighten up,” really got me thinking.
LANDS: Keep them public
In last week’s Idaho Statesman, Rocky Barker writes of a huge land purchase of 172,000 acres by a private company listed as D.F. Development, LLC of Cisco, Texas. Rocky Barker researched the company and found Rober…
SIMS: End Press persecution
It amazes me that the Coeur d’Alene Press feels an obligation to repeatedly report on a traffic ticket concerning State Rep. Kathy Sims. She has been an extremely generous member of our community as well as a succe…
KAHN: Been there, done that

STRANDED: Bad job, Press

VA: Program in sad shape
A little known program in the Veterans Administration is the Home Health Aide Services, or (HHA). This program is designed to keep aging veterans out of more expensive assisted living facilities or nursing homes.
HEARN: We know Tom
We all know how GOP primaries work. The “moderate” says they’re running to “better represent the district.” And then they fly first class to Boise and vote how Boss Bedke tells them to.
STRANDED: Check this list
Trisha Bowlin let a couple of items off of needed items for boat owners to carry. She forgot to mention life vest (1 per person in the boat), a noise signaling device (whistle, canister air horn, etc.). Just these …
WOMEN: Show your strength
In response to Paul J. Underwood’s letter about health care, I’m a 38-year-old woman who is a stand tall Republican. In your letter you rant about Republicans and how we all are spoiled little rich people who throw…
