OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
QUESTIONS: Answers appreciated
Things that make me wonder:
ANTHEM: It's about respect
After serving this great nation for many years in the military, I agree fools have the right to not stand tall with their hand over their heart when the National Anthem is played before the start of sports function…
TURKEYS: Gobble up this event
A Showcase of Talent to benefit the food bank, Turkeys & More, is tonight at the Kroc Center. As sponsors of this event we urge community support and attendance at this fun evening of talent — all donated by local …
SMOKE: Not a joke, folks
To the two of you with diesel pickup trucks that think it was funny to “coal roll” me while I was cycling Sunday afternoon on Highway 41 between Rathdrum and Spirit Lake… it isn’t “funny.” It is also illegal. Be ad…
STATUES: No way to learn
Regarding discussions about Civil War statues, tearing down anything physical does not prevent anyone but the shallowest humans from learning history. Books help; even the internet can help if you are careful.
NEA: Uprising wrong way
There is a big difference between “being respectful of people’s differences” and “compelling a uniformity of thought,” of “teaching, discussing and exposing the dark passages of American history” and tearing it dow…
THANKSGIVING: Feed your neighbors
On Sept. 29, Turkeys & More will have a benefit concert at the Kroc Center to raise money for the Community Action Partnership (CAP) Food Bank’s Thanksgiving distribution fund. Our goal is to serve 1,600 families i…
PRESS: Liberalism abounds
Having recently fled the unbridled madness of California, I’m astonished at the degree to which the CDA Press is infected by liberalism (most recently and shamelessly exhibited in the front-page, above-the-fold top…

COUNTY: Voters have spoken
I read the CdA Press editorial by Mike Patrick on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, with incredulity that during his defense of the county manager position and Dan Green he would feel it necessary to undermine my credibility…
TRUMP: Boycott will matter
I agree with President Trump that we should boycott NFL games where players choose to disrespect our nation’s flag during the national anthem. The owners should not tolerate this. Fire them! If we stop attending th…
DUNCAN: Time to die
I have read two letters in The Press concerning Joseph Duncan. My son, Mark McKenzie, was murdered by Duncan, along with Brenda, Spade, and Dylan Groene. For years now I have been asking questions as to why this mo…
PROTESTS: It's not about you
On NFL protests and our protests on the protests ... can we all agree that individualism has run amok? Why does the West struggle so much with seeing oneself as a fitly joined part of the whole with too much self-i…
TEXAS: Don't mess with it
As I read the letter from Betsy Rosenberg concerning “rednecks” in Texas and neighboring states and their pleas for help after the destructive hurricane Harvey, I was filled with sadness and concern. The letter was…
AIRPORT: Parking risk alert
I parked my car at Spokane Airport on Sept. 2. On Sept. 9 I returned to the airport. When I was taken to economy parking lot by shuttle, I noticed my car was sitting sideways into the adjacent parking place. It had…
