Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
RENT: Decide merits for yourself
I'm writing in support of Lake City Playhouse presenting the musical "Rent." According to some letter writers, plays whose characters include homosexuals and transvestites should not be produced. This criticism ass…
SKYWAY: A bastion for readers, writers
Thank you, Coeur d'Alene Press, for your coverage of the author visit at Skyway Elementary on Thursday, Jan. 12. I'm Deby Fredericks, one of the authors lucky enough to be invited. I've seldom been to a school wher…

GUNS: Objective outlooks needed
Before $100 a barrel oil prices made it unaffordable, the bride and I enjoyed hooking onto our fifth wheel RV each fall and joining our fellow snowbirds on the open road south. Like many of our fellow travelers, we…
LAYOFFS: Beware the ripple effect

ESSAY: Students, pen patriotically
"What did President Abraham Lincoln do for my family?"
SNAKE PIT: Best neighbors on Earth
From the time I first opened Bumblebee Nursery, Joe and Rose Mary Peak have been friends, mentors and the best neighbors anyone could wish for. Ann and I have been saddened by their ill health for the last few year…
TAXES: No end in sight, taxpayers
The Press on Wednesday wrote, "Coeur d'Alene officials consider resort tax or local option sales tax." It goes on to say, "Either or, the Lake City is on board."
