NIC SOFTBALL: Cardinals drop two to No. 16 Salt Lake
TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — Sophomores Corine Doran hit a two-run double to cut the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning in the first game for North Idaho College, which fell to 16th-ranked Salt Lake 10-2 in the first game of a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader at Norma Carr Field on Friday.
Salt Lake (22-5, 9-5 SWAC) beat NIC 12-4 in the second game to get the sweep.
Freshman McKenzie Parks hit a two-run single to give NIC (14-14, 6-8) a 2-1 lead in the second inning of the nightcap. After Salt Lake tied it at 2-2 in the bottom of the second, NIC regained the lead on RBI singles from Katelyn Larney and Alli Drake to make it 4-2 in the third.
The teams meet again today in Taylorsville.
