Denise Marie Nix (Pederson), 64

Denise Marie Nix (Pederson) was born Feb. 6, 1961, to Donald and Dianne (Kahn) Batalia in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She grew up there and graduated from St. Maries High School. Following, she moved to Minnetonka, Minn., where she raised her children, Shaun and Kaylin. 

She worked briefly as a legal assistant. In the early 2000s, she moved to Texas. There, she met the love of her life, John Nix, and the couple married. John died in 2015. In 2020, she returned to Minnetonka, and in 2023, she moved back to her beloved Idaho and lived with her sister. Denise died March 24, 2025, at the age of 64.

Denise was an excellent cook and baker. She also enjoyed making and collecting jewelry, motor-homing up the Coeur d’Alene River and football. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Denise is lovingly remembered by her children, Shaun Pederson of Winsted, Minn., and Kaylin Pederson of Palestine, Texas; grandchildren Liam, Riley and Savanah; mother Dianne Batalia of Hayden, Idaho; sister Debbie Pederson of Coeur d’Alene; brothers Leny (and Barb) Pederson of Kingston, Idaho, Donald Pederson Jr. of Pinehurst, Idaho, and Hank (and Leia) Askin of Glenville, Pa.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  

No services are at her request. The family will be honoring her life and memory at the summer family reunion up the Coeur d’Alene River.
