PREP BASEBALL: Coeur d'Alene walks off in opener, earns sweep of Sandpoint

COEUR d’ALENE — Dylan Sutich hit a two-run walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the Coeur d’Alene Vikings over the Sandpoint Bulldogs 11-10 in the first game of an Inland Empire League doubleheader at Ted Page Field on Thursday. 

Hunter Chambers singled to score Jackson Hackett and Harrison Trunkey-Evans to cut the deficit to 10-9 in the sixth inning for Coeur d’Alene in the opener. 

Andrew Lehman hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning to give Sandpoint a 7-4 lead. 

In the nightcap, Gavin Helms and Kolbe Coey drove in three runs each as the Vikings beat the Bulldogs 13-6 for the sweep.  

Tyler Voorhees had an RBI single and three runs scored in the second game for Coeur d’Alene (6-1, 5-1 IEL), which travels to Post Falls for a doubleheader on April 8. 

Sandpoint is 3-7, 2-4.

COEUR d’ALENE — Owen Moore drew a bases-loaded walk to score the go-ahead run in the bottom of the third inning in the first game for Lake City, which got five strikeouts from Tanner Franklin in three innings of relief to hold off visiting Moscow 4-2 in the first game of an Inland Empire League doubleheader on Thursday at Lake City High. 

Jack Pierce hit a solo home run to tie the game in the third inning of the opener for Lake City, which held Moscow to four hits. 

In the second game, Avrey Cherry was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the fourth with the bases loaded to force in the tying run, then Deacon Hunter walked with the bases loaded to score Owen Mangini with the eventual game-winner in an 8-7 win in five innings after the game was called due to darkness. 

Kyle Johnson hit a solo home run in the first inning of the second game, then closed out the game with a scoreless fifth inning on the mound for Lake City (5-1, 4-0 IEL), which hosts Sandpoint for a doubleheader on April 8. 

Moscow is 4-5, 1-3.

ST. MARIES — Kaiden Morris and Peyton Lingo had two RBIs each in the second game for the Lumberjacks, who bounced back to earn a Central Idaho League split with the Spartans at City Park. 

Hunter Wilborn, Landen Holmes and Amado Stewart scored three runs each in the second game for St. Maries (2-6, 1-3 CIL). 

In the opener, Kris Brusseau had three RBIs for the Lumberjacks.  

Brayden Elder had a three-run double in the first inning of the opener for Priest River (2-3 2-3). 

St. Maries travels to Kendrick for a doubleheader next Thursday.
