Patricia 'Pat' Chisholm Tiede, 88
Patricia “Pat” Chisholm Tiede was born March 17, 1937, in Butte, Mont., to Martha Adele (Prentice) and Harry Elwin Chisholm. She is the eldest of two children and was not only a sister but a cherished friend to Sue (Chisholm) Dunton, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Pat received her eternal reward March 19, 2025.
Pat was preceded in death by both parents, as well as her ex-husband, father of her children, and friend, Tom Robert Tiede (2016).
Pat is survived by one daughter, Kristina Anne (David) Montoya, of Depoe Bay, Ore.; and one son, Thomas Patrick (Judith) Tiede, of Elizabethtown, Ky.; three grandchildren: Cyndi Young of Madison, Ala.; Dakotah Gonsoir of Peever, S.D.; and Alaena Adams of Elizabethtown, Ky. Pat is also survived by seven great grandchildren: Eliana, Meredith, Jerrod “J2,” Cedar, Lawrence “LJ,” Hank and Vinny. She is also survived by her dearest friend and sister, Sue (“Spike”) Dunton and their three children: Lisa (Charles) Dunton-Dent, Wendy (Clyde) Montgomery, Michael (Christy) Dunton and many extended family members who loved spending time with her at family birthday and holiday gatherings.
Throughout her career, Pat enjoyed working as an executive assistant at Wandell Elementary School, Saddle River, N.J. (1970-1974), and Congressional Country Club, Bethesda, Md. (1974-1975). Her career path continued in the administrative marketing department with National Business Systems, Rockville, Md. (1975-1978); as an executive assistant with Club Managers Association of America, Bethesda, Md. (1978-1989); and as manager of administrative services at Industrial Research Institute, Washington, D.C., since 1989.
After completing a bachelor's degree in Sociology at Washington State University and after raising two children to adulthood, Pat found herself single and unwilling to slip into the abyss of mediocracy, finally blossoming into the elegant socialite that she would forever be known as. She purchased a condominium at The Promenade located in Bethesda, Md. She established a network of friends whom she always considered as her family. She was never afraid to state the obvious; even if protocol did not allow it, she would forge her way into her social life, unafraid to be who she was. She was known, at times, as the unofficial “Mayor of Fun.” After 35 years of a happy life, many friends, many who had passed on and realizing that she was becoming disconnected with the younger tenants of The Promenade, she transplanted her life to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where her beloved sister lives. Of course, Pat would be Pat, establishing an entire connectivity of social gatherings in her new world at Coeur d’Alene North Condominiums in Coeur d’Alene, and later at The Garden Plaza in Post Falls, Idaho, with her sister at her side. They became affectionately known as “The Bling Sisters” because of the attractive way they both dressed and accessorized for their frequent outings.
Pat will forever be remembered by those whose hearts she has touched. It is often said that loved ones leave their footprints on our hearts when they leave this Earth. However, Pat left her fingerprints, not footprints, because she held our hearts in her hands, close to her own, by valuing each friend she made. We can all think a good thought, look at something beautiful and shiny, be kind to others and Pat’s warmth will always be with us.
