Concerts April 5-6 to whisk audiences to Latin America, Western Europe

| March 28, 2025 1:00 AM

Just in time for spring break, the Music Conservatory of Coeur d’Alene will host three events the first weekend in April to whisk audiences away on journeys of international music.

Attendees will be transported to Latin America starting at 5:30 p.m. April 5 during the Preludio Elegante Reception at the Music Conservatory, 627 Government Way, Coeur d'Alene, with music, food and wines from Argentina and Chile. The reception will be followed by “Camino del Corazon,” a piano concert at the Kroc Center Theater, 1765 W. Golf Course Road, Coeur d'Alene, featuring pianists Matt Goodrich and Melody Puller.

“We were thrilled to host an immersive, intimate and inspiring evening where you can experience firsthand the talent, passion and vision of the Music Conservatory while celebrating the rich culture of Latin America,” Cynthia Newkirk, executive director of the Music Conservatory, said in a Tuesday news release. “The reception will offer a unique opportunity to meet the musicians and hear firsthand about the inspiration behind the stunning piano performance.”

Reception guests will get a special preview of the musicians who will perform as the journey continues April 6 at the Kroc Center Theater with a tour of music from France, Germany, Italy, England and Spain in a matinee voice and guitar concert, starring Libby Goodwin, mezzo-soprano; Chloe Sundet, soprano; Noah Lauer, bass; and Paul Grove, guitar, including the voices of the Music Conservatory’s Youth Choir, directed by Emily Sana and accompanied by David Brewster.

The three vocal soloists are somewhat new to the area. Goodwin and Lauer just completed their music educations at the Jacobs School at University of Indiana before joining the conservatory's faculty. Sundet recently moved to Spokane after completing her studies at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California.

"These are two of the best and most famous music schools in North America,” said Kent Kimball, artistic director of the Music Conservatory, adding that Grove needs no introduction.

"Paul gives concerts all over the U.S. as well as Canada, Russia, Brazil and India," Kimball said. "He’s also performed with local orchestras in universities and the Spokane Symphony. He received his Ph.D. in guitar performance from the University of Arizona.”

Tickets for the events are priced follows:
