PREP ROUNDUP: Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls get a run before the big break
• TRACK AND FIELD
POST FALLS — With the break quickly approaching, both Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls opted to get one last run before the schools break next week.
Coeur d’Alene swept in duals against Post Falls at Post Falls High on Wednesday, with teams using both varsity and JV athletes.
“It was a big win for our programs,” Coeur d’Alene coach Shawn Amos said. “Beating Post Falls is tough to do. (Post Falls coach) Wade (Quesnell) runs a great program and is the high mark in North Idaho track. In year three of our rebuild, we are getting closer to where we want to be. Our coaches are all on the same page and the kids are buying in and starting to believe in what we are selling.”
The teams were scheduled to compete in the Lewiston Invitational, but with some kids out of town for spring break, the schools opted to compete on Wednesday instead.
Post Falls sprinter Chloe Van Volkinburg won the 100- (12.52 seconds) and 200-meter dash (25.81) to move into second and third in school history.
“We got some great weather and great times by both teams,” Quesnell said. “It worked out really well for both of us.”

SPIRIT LAKE — Cardinal pitcher A.J. Michaud carried a perfect game into the bottom of the fifth inning before Tiger Eric Wylie singled leading off the frame in the nonleague game at John Shaffer Field.

Nate Beardsall had an RBI for Timberlake (3-2), which plays at Priest River in a doubleheader on April 8.
