Robert 'Bob' Cummings, 90
Robert “Bob” Arthur Cummings, 90, of Kellogg, Idaho, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away March 23, 2025, at the home of his daughter in Diamond Lake, Wash. Bob was born Feb. 7, 1935, in Thompson Falls, Mont., a son of the late Alton and Margarette (Soule) Cummings.
Bob attended Kellogg High School and graduated with the Class of 1954. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving in the Signal Corp division. Bob married Sharron “Lynne” Turnbow on July 13, 1957. Lynne passed away Oct. 12, 2022.
For nearly 30 years, Bob was a bricklayer for the Bunker Hill Mine and a member of the brick layer’s union. Bob was a 65-year member of the Kellogg Elks, a member of Cornerstone Church in Silverton, Idaho, and was proud to grow up in Deadwood Gulch.
Bob and Lynne savored their summers “Up the River,” as they called it. “Up the River was a special place beloved by every family member, where special, unforgettable memories were made. Bob considered himself an avid outdoorsman and was a top-notch horseshoe thrower. He was also a talented oil and watercolor paint artist, a dedicated collector of coins and always had a story to tell.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Lynne, Bob is preceded in death by three siblings, Della, Peggy and Sam.
Bob leaves behind his four children, Tammie (Rick) Olberding of Diamond Lake, Wadh., Scot (Leslie) Cummings of Pinehurst, Idaho, David (Kamai) Cummings of Spokane Valley, Wash., and Heidi (Dave) Herndon of Post Falls, Idaho; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Jessi) Olberding, Bryce (Autumn) Olberding, Lynnsie (Jared) Schexnider, Travis (Brandon) Cummings, Stefanie (Garrett) Marvin, Hillary (Eric) Titus and Tyson (Meredith) Herndon.
Seven great-grandchildren — Taylor Olberding, Mason and Hailey Olberding, Weston and Hayden Schexnider and Harrison and Eleanore Titus.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 28, 2025, at 1 p.m., at the chapel of Shoshone Funeral Services, 106 S. Main St., Kellogg, Idaho. A reception will follow the service at the Kellogg Elks Lodge. All are welcome. Private family interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his dear wife, Lynne.
