NIC coaches to be honored by NJCAA
The NJCAA announced its first honorees for the Coaches Legacy Awards, which recognizes the all-time winningest coaches in NJCAA history.
It is the first time in the 90-year history of the NJCAA that coaches have been recognized by the Association.
North Idaho College men's basketball coach Rolly Williams, as well as Cardinal wrestling coaches John Owen and Pat Whitcomb, are among nearly 200 coaches across 28 sports were nominated by the schools at which they coached.
Williams had a career record of 731-314 in 35 seasons, with only four losing seasons.
Owen guided NIC to eight national titles and 17 top-three national finishes over his 20-year coaching career and was 309-22-2, including 11 seasons with an unbeaten dual meet record.
Whitcomb coached NIC to four national titles, in 1998, 2001, 2003 and 2013.
Honorees will be recognized on Tuesday, June 17 in Charlotte, N.C., preceding the 2025 NJCAA Hall of Fame and Awards at the Hilton Charlotte University Place Hotel.
