Big Red's Barn is back
COEUR d’ALENE — The grand reopening celebration for locally owned and operated Big Red’s Barn is set for this weekend following a change in ownership last year.
The celebration takes place Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will cost $15 for general admission. Children under 3 get in for free, and discounts are available for military, senior and first responder attendees.
The weekend’s festivities will include live demonstrations from Birds of Prey as well as face painting, crafts, raffles and giveaways.
Under the stewardship of the Harris family, Big Red's Barn has undergone a makeover
New additions to the barn include vibrant wall murals, a capybara, a 6-month-old miniature horse, a Tree Frog Oasis featuring 15 green tree frogs and a 13-foot python, a press release said.
"We believe in creating a magical space where children can learn, play and connect with animals in a hands-on way," said Ginger Harris, owner of Big Red's Barn. "Our goal is to inspire a love for animals and nature, fostering a sense of responsibility and empathy in the next generation."
Big Red's Barn has gained recognition as the top destination for field trips and birthday parties in the Pacific Northwest. It was voted number one for Best Kids Birthday by the North Idaho Business Journal 2024 and in the running for 2025.
"Big Red’s Barn is more than just an attraction — it’s a community treasure, a place for families to bond, children to learn and memories to be made," according to a press release. "With your support, we can continue providing unforgettable animal encounters and educational experiences for years to come."
Big Red’s Barn business hours are Thursday through Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Barn is at 7397 N. Government Way.
