Redman 'super happy' with HB345 signing
Rep. Jordan Redman considers Gov. Brad Little’s signing of House Bill 345 on Wednesday a highlight of his legislative career.
“I’m super happy,” said the Republican from Coeur d’Alene. “It’s something I worked on for quite a while.”
He was pleased with overall strong legislative support for the bill that he believes will reform the Medicaid expansion program, provide financial stability and prove beneficial to taxpayers while providing sustainability for the program.
Redman said without some type of reform, he worried the program may have been at risk.
The changes were necessary, “so we don’t lose it,” he said. “This will keep it for those who need it as a safety net. And it has the potential to provide a really good savings for the state.”
While he was confident in the merits of HB 345, Redman wasn’t 100% positive it would become law.
“You never know when you’re dealing with something like Medicaid,” Redman said.
