An Omak, Wash., woman died in a single-vehicle crash late Thursday in Benewah County, the Idaho State Police said.
According to ISP, a 2018 Toyota Highlander with two occupants was westbound on Lovell Valley Road west of U.S. 95 when it drove off the roadway about 11 p.m., crashed into a ditch, rolled and came to rest in a treed area.
A 45-year-old woman died in the crash. The other occupant, a 32-year-old Plummer woman, contacted a local resident who called emergency services. The survivor was transported to a hospital by air ambulance.
Alcohol is suspected to be a factor, ISP said.
Neither woman was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, ISP said.
Lovell Valley Road was blocked for about three hours.
An investigation continues.
