Northwest Improv Fest to bring the funnies April 3-5

| March 14, 2025 1:00 AM

Three days of unscripted comedy will come to the area April 3-5 during the 2025 Northwest Improv Fest.

In its second year, the Improv Fest has grown into a premier showcase for improv, drawing performers from across the Northwest and beyond. This year’s festival will feature improv performances, interactive workshops and a new musical improv headliner, Musical Monday, a headlining musical improv ensemble that fuses comedy with live music.

“This festival is all about bringing people together to celebrate the genius of the art form of improv comedy,” Noah Johnson, founder of Coeur d'Alene's Levity Theatre, said in a March 1 news release. "Before COVID, there were a few big improv festivals in our region, like the SFIT in Seattle or Stumptown in Portland. Unfortunately, post pandemic, those haven't returned, but we are excited to bring back a large-scale improv festival to the Pacific Northwest.”

A festival of comedy, connection and creativity

Northwest Improv Fest 2025 will feature 18 improv troupes and performers.

Opening night will be April 3 at Blue Door Theatre, 815 W. Garland Ave., Spokane. Performances will continue April 4-5 at the Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave., Spokane.

Attendees will also have opportunities to participate in interactive workshops led by expert improv instructors.

“This festival is a testament to the growing improv scene in the Northwest,” said Blue Door Theatre Executive Director Jim Mohr said in the news release. "We are seeing more people embrace improv as an art form, a tool for creative thinking and a way to connect with others.”

Three-day VIP passes are available for $75 through Saturday.
