Jack McAvoy, 61
Jack Francis McAvoy, 61, passed away March 6, 2025. Born on June 23, 1963, Jack grew up in California before making Idaho his home.
Throughout his life, Jack dedicated himself to hard work and service. He built lasting friendships at The Falls Club and Louisiana Pacific, where he formed a lifelong bond with his best friend and best man, John Eckhart. His passion for law enforcement led him to serve for 20+ years with Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, a role in which he took immense pride. Jack's love for sports was evident in the time he spent playing softball at Quad Park, where he found both competition and camaraderie.
But, above all, he cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Lindsey McAvoy and her children, Rylie and Spencer, and Kristine McAvoy and her children, Lyriq and Laila. He also leaves behind his brothers, Michael (Mary) McAvoy and John McAvoy and nieces Jennifer, Courtney and Sarah.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Varl and Laura McAvoy, and his nephew, Christopher McAvoy.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will be held March 22, 2025, at 3 p.m., at River City Lanes, in Post Falls, Idaho, to honor the man who meant so much to so many. Everyone is encouraged to wear Pittsburgh Steelers attire!
