Susan Kay Brinkman, 77
Susan Kay Brinkman, 77, of Hayden, Idaho, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Feb. 24, 2025, at Deaconess Hospital. Susan was born Jan. 31, 1947, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She attended Kellogg High School. She was a loving and hardworking homemaker for many years and was honored with the prestigious Coupon Queen of the Silver Valley title. She later attended North Idaho College, where she earned her associate degree in medical billing, graduating summa cum laude.
During her retirement years, she enjoyed many activities with her husband, Ken. They traveled often, with the Oregon Coast being one of their favorite destinations. They loved taking long walks on the beach and admiring lighthouses. When at home, Susan devoted her time to family and friends. She and Ken enjoyed bowling and cultivating a garden full of vegetables and flowers. Easter was one of her favorite holidays; she welcomed family into her home with love, delicious food, and a fun Easter egg hunt.
Susan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ken Brinkman. She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Joey) James of Rathdrum, Idaho; her three sons, Keith (Megan) Carpenter of Spokane, Wash., Jason (Kristi) Rex of Hayden, Idaho, and Chuck (Stephanie) Hupp of Athol, Idaho; and 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
