Leelo Steele, 95
Leelo Steele of Coeur d'Alene left this earth Feb. 24, 2025.
She was met by the love of her life, Bill (who predeceased her in 1971), and they will forever be together with the Lord.
Leelo leaves behind a shared daughter, Lorna Casey-Kaiser, son-in-law Lee Kaiser, three grandchildren, Dorian Kaiser, Kairssa Kaiser-Mclean and Miracle Kaiser, and two great-granddaughters, Lumira and Erta.
She was born in Germany in 1929, an only child to Charlotte and Friedrich Benseler. She was raised in Bremen, Germany. After the war, she migrated to Canada and then to the United States. She said one of the happiest days of her life was when she and Bill became U.S. Citizens. She loved this country and was a true patriot.
Descriptive words about Leelo from her family are spunky, feisty, spitfire and one strong woman. She was one of a kind. She worked hard on many projects and insisted on doing her own roof at 70 years old. She had a great sense of humor and a big heart.
She had a remarkable green thumb and really enjoyed gardening, or playing in the dirt, as she called it. She also enjoyed spending time with family. She loved her chipmunks and the deer who came to visit her daily. She enjoyed watching old movies and was a big John Wayne fan.
She will be greatly missed and always in our hearts.
Thank you to Dave and Leanna from Auburn Crest Hospice for being there and making her wish to pass at home a reality.
