COEUR d'ALENE — Sierra, a multichannel off-price retailer that specializes in active and outdoor gear, opened Saturday in the former Bed Bath & Beyond storefront.

The store will mark Sierra’s second in the state following its arrival in Meridian in 2020.

According to a press release, Sierra is "the go-to retailer for discovering great finds on top active and outdoor brands for the entire family at amazing savings."

Sierra sells apparel, footwear and gear for up to 20-60% less than department and specialty stores, the press release said.

Dozens shopped the new store as soon as Sierra opened its doors Saturday morning.

To celebrate its arrival in Coeur d’Alene, Sierra also made a $10,000 donation to nonprofit organization Habitat for Humanity of North Idaho.

“We’re excited to open Sierra’s second Idaho location and introduce our off-price shopping experience to the Coeur d’Alene community,” said Amanda Johnson, assistant vice president and marketing director of Sierra. "At Sierra, our goal is to provide quality active and outdoor apparel, footwear and gear at affordable prices allowing shoppers to get moving in the way that makes them feel best, no matter the activity.”

Sierra is part of TJX Companies, Inc., which also operates Marshalls, HomeGoods and TJ Maxx stores. The outdoor-oriented chain has 117 franchises nationwide.

Sierra is located at 440 W. Wilbur Ave. and is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
