Jerry Scheller, 67

| March 2, 2025 1:00 AM

Jerry Henry Scheller of Otis Orchards, Wash., passed away suddenly Feb. 14, 2025, at the family property he cherished.

Born on September 16, 1957, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Jerry was the son of Doris Hollingsworth and Henry Scheller. He was the fourth of seven children, following his twin sisters, Vicky and Betty, and his sister, Cindy. Later, he welcomed half-siblings Peggy, Dennis and Tom into his life.

Jerry graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1975.  As a young man, one of Jerry’s great passions was racing his 1969 Chevy Nova. He spent many years behind the wheel, relishing the thrill of the track and the camaraderie of the racing community. His love for speed and competition reflected the spirited, fun-loving personality that so many remember fondly.

In 1979, Jerry married Carol Cox, and together they raised three children — Stephanie, Eric and Sassy — whom he loved dearly. As a father, Jerry poured his heart into creating unforgettable memories with his family, including building a pool that became the center of many family gatherings and fun-filled days. He adored his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. Jerry and Carol were married for 45 years at the time of his passing.

A skilled and talented professional in the construction trade, Jerry managed and built many projects throughout Spokane and North Idaho. He spent many years as a superintendent, finally retiring April of 2024 from the construction trade. His craftsmanship was a reflection of his pride and dedication, leaving behind homes where families, including his own, could create lasting memories.

Faith was central to Jerry’s life as a devoted Jehovah's Witness. He firmly believed that death was not the end, and the hope of everlasting life with his loved ones brought him great comfort. He lived his life with a heart full of faith and gratitude.

Jerry had a deep love for adventure and the outdoors. Many will remember him cruising around Lake Coeur d'Alene, blasting rock music on his boat, and spending time at Priest Lake—a place he had loved since childhood. He carried on the tradition of camping at Priest Lake with his own family, creating new memories and passing on his love for the area. The family cabin, a place of deep meaning for Jerry, will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his loved ones.  It was here, on the land he adored, that he spent his final moments.

Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Cindy, his nephew, Jay, and his parents, Doris and Jack Webb, and Henry Scheller (Lucille).

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his sisters, Betty, Vicky and Peggy; his brothers, Dennis and Tom; his children, Stephanie, Eric (Ashley) and Sassy (Antonio); and his grandchildren, Steven, Enzo, Marley, Royce, Jack and Fenix.
