E-BIKES: Trail rules need more defined
In response to the submission by Wayne Meucci, titled “E-bikes: Some should be forbidden from riding on the trail.”
I fully agree with Mr. Meucci’s post about banning e-bikes that do not require any pedal power, aka motorcycles, from the bicycle trails. I do agree and support the e-bike industry for partial assist bicycles, but those that have pedals and require some effort to pedal, with degrees of assist depending on the need.
As a person who frequents the trails by walking on them, I have witnessed numerous incidents involving experienced riders wearing motorcycle helmets who zoom along at high speeds without pedaling. In my opinion, these are motorcycles. There is also a lack of common bicycle courtesy amongst these riders, which is likely because they don’t think of themselves as a bicycle. I believe the trail rules need to be more defined, but that also means enforcing them.
