Post Falls Police warn of email scam

| January 31, 2025 1:05 AM

The Post Falls Police Department said Thursday it was alerted to an email scam involving impersonation of a fictional person allegedly working at the department.

Emails were sent to businesses across the country with a false invoice.

Police noted the sender’s email address originated from outside the country and is not associated with the Post Falls Police Department.

The Post Falls IT department has confirmed that there was no cyber incident, network intrusion or hacking involving Post Falls Police computers, software or networks. The businesses receiving these emails are random and have no prior association or dealings with the department. The incident has been reported to the FTC.

Police are warning citizens to be vigilant when it comes to scams, especially strange messages conveying a heightened state of urgency or fear.
