LEWISTON — Coeur d’Alene has been focused on getting pressure on shots beyond the 3-point line in practice.

On Tuesday, the Vikings got after it.

Coeur d'Alene held Lewiston to 10-of-29 shooting from 3 in a 63-47 victory over the Bengals in Inland Empire League play.

“Lewiston can shoot it, so we trying to emphasize getting out and defending the 3-point line,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jon Adams said. “We’ve had the lead in a number of games, and it was good to see the guys take their time, take care of the ball and not take early shots.”

Junior Caden Symons scored 19 points, senior Kai Wheeler added 19 for 6A Coeur d’Alene (8-8, 2-4 IEL), which faces 4A top-ranked Bonners Ferry on Friday at 6 p.m. at North Idaho College. Sophomore Ben Murray added 10 points for the Vikings.

“Ben did a really good job of taking care of the ball and knocked down some big shots,” Adams said. “Tucker Booth, who played extended minutes tonight, made some big shots and really helped us out. It was definitely a team win tonight.”

Junior Jordan Walker scored 10 points for Lewiston (14-2, 3-1), which hosts Lakeland on Friday.
