Mavis Ann Fuchs, 88
Mavis Ann Fuchs, 88, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, went home to Jesus on Jan. 22, 2025, with her loved ones by her side at Hospice of North Idaho Schneidmiller House in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Mavis was born in Hallock, Minn., on Sept. 29, 1936, to Clarence and Mildred Anderson. She attended Mott Lincoln High School in Mott, N.D.
Mavis met Harold Fuchs in 1953 through his sister, Darlene. They spent their youth sneaking strawberries from the berry patch, roller skating and cruising down Main Street. On her 17th birthday, in Mavis' words, Harold gave her a diamond and they married Sept. 22, 1955. They settled in New England, N.D., where Mavis waitressed and Harold was a barber. Together, they celebrated the birth of four children: Gary, Roberta, Brian and Jeffrey. They relocated to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1969, where Mavis’ most memorable jobs were working at Albertsons, where she received the nickname “The Cookie Lady,” and as a lunch lady at Brian Elementary. Mavis was also a member of the Coeur d'Alene Eagles where she held many active roles over her years of membership. She was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she often volunteered to help make lefse during the holidays.
Mavis was a devoted wife, loving mother and sister, doting grandmother/great-grandmother and dedicated friend. Her life was a testament to love, warmth, encouragement, faith and service. Although Mavis is no longer with us she will always live in the hearts of those that love her.
Mavis is survived by her husband, Harold Fuchs; children: Gary Fuchs, Roberta Roberts and Jeffrey Fuchs; grandchildren: Jeremy Roberts, Claudia (Steven) Sharp and Christina Roberts; great-grandchildren: Clarajean Heinemeyer and Hailee Sharp; sister Lois (Perry) Miller, and she is survived by several loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mildred Anderson; brother Charles Anderson; sister Diane Hartman; and son Brian Fuchs.
