A Hayden man was arrested Sunday in connection to a reported robbery of a convenience store Saturday night.

Vance Groene, 39, was taken into custody at his home, according to a Kootenai County Sheriff's Office press release.

Groene admitted involvement in the robbery and was booked into the Kootenai County jail, according to the press release.

KCSO deputies responded to a reported armed robbery around 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hayden Quick Stop, 1615 W. Hayden Ave.

"The victim reported a white male wearing a mask, entered the store with a firearm and demanded money from the cash register," the release said. "After being provided the money, the suspect fled the scene on foot."

Based on surveillance footage, deputies identified a possible suspect. Detectives with KCSO’s Special Investigation Unit arrested Groene, the release said.

The release said detectives found the firearm used in the robbery and the stolen money at the home.
