INAUGURAL PRAYER: Thoughtful and engaging

Reading the article of Bishop Mariann Budde at the Inaugural Prayer Service in Washington, D.C., brought to mind a quotation from the prophet Micah 6:8:
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God”. (NIV)
I listened to Bishop Budde’s sermon at aol.com. It was a sermon on “unity” which, she explained, must be based on Dignity, Honesty, and Humility. It was thoughtful and engaging. Her appeal for mercy, in particular, was certainly respectful. It’s surprising that anyone who heard it would have considered it “boring.”
