WRESTLING: Why weren’t the girls’ scores counted?

| January 24, 2025 1:00 AM

I recently attended the Battle for the Paddle sports and social event at Sandpoint High School. I was there for the wrestling and was quite impressed with Lakeland’s boys and Sandpoint boys. Lakeland won but the two girls from each school who wrestled did not get their scores recorded. They did not count. I found out from the Sandpoint coaches, that Lakeland coaches did not want the girls scores to be counted, even though the girls are part of the team. Coincidentally, the girls from Sandpoint pinned their Lakeland opponents. Upon further questioning I found out that there were 8 girls from Lakeland that wanted to wrestle that night but only 2 were allowed to. And this information comes from a girl who is on the Lakeland team who I spoke with in person. Are women allowed to vote in Lakeland? Hopefully they can also drive cars and are allowed to have jobs. Come on coaches, it’s 2025, not 1915.
