Interim coach Kriskova named Idaho head volleyball coach
MOSCOW — Romana Redondo Krišková, interim volleyball coach at Idaho in 2024, has been named head volleyball coach of the Vandals, Idaho athletic director Terry Gawlik announced.
Kriskova went 1-26, 0-16 in the Big Sky Conference as interim coach in 2024. She took over for Chris Gonzalez, who went 5-51 in two seasons, and resigned amid an investigation into allegations of abuse and bullying.
Kriskova was an assistant coach for the Vandals in 2023.
"Clearly the Vandal volleyball program has gone through some challenges over the past few seasons," Gawlik said in a school news release. "She took over the interim head coach role last summer and through the fall season. She provided the program stability, care, and trust. She has recruited talented and driven athletes that will help move our program forward. Her international experience as a professional volleyball athlete, her collegiate playing experience at volleyball powerhouse Wisconsin, and her passion for the game of volleyball at the highest levels will be tools that she uses to recruit, coach, and build the Vandal volleyball program."
Redondo Krišková has extensive experience as a coach and player at the highest levels of international and collegiate volleyball.
"I feel humbled and extremely motivated for this opportunity to bring Idaho volleyball back on its feet," Redondo Krišková said. "I'm ready to give my all to the program, community and alumni and bring success back to Vandal volleyball. I can't wait to get back to the gym and continue grinding with the team."
She served as an assistant for ASPTT in France during the 2022-23 season after playing professional volleyball for six seasons (2017-22).
Prior to competing overseas, Redondo Krišková played two seasons Virginia Commonwealth and three seasons at Wisconsin.
Apart from playing in six different countries during her professional career, Redondo Krišková spent 16 seasons on the Slovakian junior and senior national teams.
